Dunkin the Wonder Dog

When I started the photo contest, I had no idea that so many amazing and touching stories would be sent in. One of those stories was sent in by Gwen on behalf of her beloved lab, Dunkin. Gwen had written that Dunkin had been diagnosed that week with a severe form of Lymphoma at only 3 years old, and that she wasn’t quite sure how much more time she had with him. Gwen said that despite his diagnosis he remains upbeat and positive. I knew that I wanted to meet Dunkin so I asked if Gwen would be willing to meet me at a local park. I was amazed that I was meeting a sick dog. I mean, I expected a mopey, tired dog but that is NOT what I met today! Gwen said she can see a difference, but to someone that never met him, I would never have guessed that this handsome lab was going through chemotherapy!

Gwen & Kim, thank you for allowing me to capture these photos of your sweet Dunkin. We’re sending out prayers and thoughts his direction for a full recovery.

My dear Blog readers, I hope that you’ll do the same.

Awesome contest entries so far!

I am so thrilled with the entries I have received so far. WOW there are some super pets in Southern California! I even have an entry for a ferret, how awesome! This contest is DEFINITELY not limited to dogs. That’s what you see most on my blog, but I want to hear about ALL pets!

The first handful of entries did NOT receive an automatic submission receipt. So for pets Bandit, Sammi, and Rio: don’t worry! I have your submissions! I have changed the settings, so everyone else should have received a receipt to confirm their entries. If you haven’t please first check your spam folders or send me an email if you want to confirm – melissa@melissapalomo.com

Remember, the contest is open until October 4th. So if you haven’t sent in your entry – you still have a little bit of time!

My “WOW” session

Catherine and I started emailing several months ago while her hubby Darren was deployed with the military. Unfortunately, the timing didn’t work out to photograph his homecoming, but we agreed to do a photo session at a later date, and this time with their pup, Ozzy.

Well, let me tell you. There are a few things in life that photographers enjoy photographing…

Here is my list:

Beautiful People (Inside or out!)
Beautiful Locations
Beautiful Animals

As you will soon see, this session covered ALL of those. I started loading the photos from my card and was thrilled to see what I had captured.

Catherine and Darren are beautiful people inside and out, and their pup Ozzy is the cutest little booger! I was so glad to have the chance to take these photos for them.
